District 2-X1 Charity Award Recipients

District 2-X1 is proud to honor the recipients of Awards from these District designated charities.

Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF)

MELVIN JONES FELLOWS

The MELVIN JONES FELLOWSHIP (MJF) created in 1973, is named in honor of the founder of Lions Clubs International, Melvin Jones. The fellowship was established as the highest form of LCIF’s recognition to acknowledge an individual’s dedication and commitment to humanitarian service. The MJF is an honor, not an Award. The honoree need not be a Lions club member. Melvin Jones Fellows receive an attractive lapel pin, a plaque and a congratulatory letter. The Progressive program of MJF began in 1986 as a way to recognize Lions who continue their commitment to LCIF. Each PMJF receives a new lapel pin and a congratulatory letter (one diamond in yellow gold representing each subsequent $1000 donation to LCIF).

Texas Lions Camp (TLC)

JACK WIECH FELLOWS

The JACK WIECH FELLOWSHIP, established in 1994, pays tribute to the founder of the Texas Lions Camp, Lion Jack Wiech. This outstanding Lion organized and chartered the Camp in 1949, and dedicated it “to the perpetual use, enjoyment and rehabilitation of the crippled children of Texas”. Over 65,000 Texas children with physical disabilities, Type-1 diabetes and cancer have attended this one-week-long residential Camp at no cost to their parents.

Lion Jack Wiech served as the President of the Camp for its first five years and was a permanent member of the Board of Directors. A donation of $1000 to the TLC (as a lump sum or over a period of 3 years) will qualify an individual (need not be a Lions club member) to be the recipient of a Jack Wiech Fellowship. An inscribed plaque and lapel pin are given to each recipient of this prestigious award.

Follow the LINK to see District 2-X1’s list of Jack Wiech Fellows. The number shown next to the names indicates a “Progressive Level” Jack Wiech Fellowship (for additional $1000 donation(s)). The Texas Lions Camp provided this list on June 30, 2020. In case of a discrepancy, please contact the Texas Lions Camp.
